Phoenix Park

September 20th, 2008....

Phoenix Park
The Phoenix Park is the largest enclose urban public park in Europe. It is huge!! It lines either side of the street for miles. There are many different things to see in the park. There is a huge gardens area, the Wellington and Phoenix Monuments, Aras an Uachtarain (the residence of the President of Ireland), Ashtown castle, a wildlife reserve, and the Dublin Zoo. The park was so big we only saw half of these things and we were there all day. The Zoo was definitely the highlight of the day. It was also a huge place, 30 acres. It is the fourth oldest zoo in the world and houses over 235 species of wild animals and tropical birds. It was giant, we got lost in the zoo, and after a whole day we didn’t even see it all. But Phoenix Park was definitely a place to be seen. It was absolutely gorgeous and very green!

My favorite part of the zoo, the seals were so cool, they swam and flipped and were so active, they were very fun to watch!
